Cathy Cassidy

Today we had a visit from Cathy Cassidy who is one of the countries most famous children’s authors. She talked about her journey to to success from day dreaming in class and trying to get “Jackie” to publish her short stories to writing her very popular and successful series of books. Hopefully there were a few future writers in today’s audience.

Poetry Competition

This year we learned Scottish poems for the year of Homecoming for our poetry competition. Our winners were Ellen, Theo, Ruth, Kimberly and Emily.  Before the competition we had fun getting messy doukin’  fur apples.

New reading buddies.

We look forward to our reading lessons with S4 and appreciate them taking the time to come down and work with us. This term we have changed buddies and have new people to read to. Here are the latest pictures hot off the camera!

P5 Musicians

Theo is helping Mrs Sanderson teach the P5s how to play the trumpet. We look forward to hearing the results of their lessons.

PC Bruton

PC Bruton came to the school to talk about his job in the police force . His talk was very informative and the class had great fun asking him questions about the different challenges he faces every day at work. We also had a visit from Gillian Smith who spoke about being a jockey. Everyone was impressed by her presentation ( and the delicious chocolate cakes she brought in). Unfortunately she is a little shy so we have no photos of the event, but I am sure the children will remember it as a highlight of career’s week.

Open Afternoon

Thanks to all parents, brothers, sisters and grandparents who took time to come to our open afternoon. Hopefully we will see you all again next term.
